Recent studies have been showing that there have been far more head
injuries in soccer than had previously been realized. Indications are
that causes of these injuries are head-to-head, elbow-to-head,
head-to-goalpost, etc., and there is strong indication that head protection
would be advised. In fact, both U.S. Soccer and NFHS have sanctioned the
use of headgear meeting particular requirements.
